Palindrome Sports recently teamed up with RJF Designs to undertake an altogether new type of project, when they were asked to be involved with the re-build and enhancement of a bobsleigh for Team Minichiello – one of Team Great Britain’s most promising hopes for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. “Our approach to this project is the same as any motorsport endeavour” said Rhodri Griffiths, “I had no prior knowledge of the mechanics of bobsleigh racing, but nonetheless the same principles we work to in motor racing can be applied to a great many situations, and this was no exception."
Griffiths and Robert Fudge from RJF spent a week overhauling and modifying the necessary parts. Fudge, with over 17 years of experience in Formula One, was responsible for the design and coordination of the project, bringing in Palindrome to supply and produce the parts and combine these with Palindrome’s versatile technological capabilities. Working across the four main areas of the sled, they showed unique understanding by incorporating these innovative solutions to create a one-of-a-kind bobsleigh for the members of Team Minichiello.
Bobleigh driver Nicola Minichiello was elated with the end result: “It’s hard to believe it’s the same sled! It really boosts our confidence to start the year with equipment like this, and we’re hoping it will really make a difference for us as we prepare for Vancouver.”
